A tragic incident has unfolded in Beloit, Wisconsin, where a mother allegedly confessed to the stabbing murder of her 14-year-old daughter. Tyiece Oninski, 41, reportedly claimed she acted to “protect” her daughter, Kuren Rein, from billionaire Elon Musk, a justification that has left authorities puzzled.

On the evening of 20 March, police responded to a call made by Oninski to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office. The mother reportedly described the murder during a lengthy phone conversation with a dispatcher, during which she admitted to fatally stabbing her daughter the previous night. The call lasted around 13 minutes, and the recording reveals a disquieting tone as Oninski discussed the events that transpired.

Upon emergency services arriving at their residence, they discovered the teenager’s lifeless body in what was described as a four-season porch converted into a bedroom. Tragically, Kuren was found face down in a substantial pool of blood, having sustained multiple stab wounds, primarily to the neck and wrist. Disturbingly, there were no defensive wounds on the girl, suggesting she did not foresee the attack.

In her call, Oninski allegedly requested a hearse instead of an ambulance for her daughter, stating, “She’s dead, honey. She needs a hearse.” She indicated that an ambulance was necessary for herself, claiming that she had attempted to take her own life following the stabbing but had failed. During the call, the mother mentioned inflicting injuries to her neck, chest, and lung area, raising further concerns about her mental state at the time of the incident.
When questioned by the dispatcher about her motives, Oninski stated she aimed to protect her daughter from an unspecified threat posed by Musk. However, no evidence has been found to suggest that she had any personal connection to the billionaire or any legitimate reason to believe he was a danger to her child.
Upon her arrival at the hospital, Oninski reportedly expressed a desire for media attention, asking if her name was “all over the news yet.” This reaction has raised eyebrows, leading investigators to question her mental health at the time of the offence. Toxicology reports indicated that she had benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and THC in her system, suggesting the possibility of substance influence during the incident.
In addition to the tragic loss of Kuren, her family is now rallying to support her brother, who has been left to navigate life without his sister. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral expenses and to aid him as he copes with this unbearable grief. According to the fundraiser, “Our hearts are shattered as we share the unimaginable loss of a beautiful 14-year-old life taken far too soon.”
The fundraiser further aims to alleviate the financial burden imposed by the tragic loss and emphasises the love and respect held for Kuren, highlighting the deeply personal nature of this tragedy. “She was loved deeply and will be missed beyond measure,” the campaign reads, calling for dignity in honouring her life.
Oninski has been arrested and is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide. She is currently being held on a cash bond of one million dollars and has a scheduled court appearance on 14 April. The legal proceedings are anticipated to shed further light on the motivations behind this heartbreaking crime and Oninski’s mental state during the incident.
As the investigation continues, it serves as a stark reminder of the complex layers often hidden beneath the surface of personal tragedies. Kuren’s story, marked by love and innocence, highlights broader societal concerns regarding mental health and the nature of familial relationships. The community’s response has shown the importance of support networks during times of unimaginable loss.
