In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Tainy revealed that his creative process has involved delving into classical and live music instrumentation. Amidst his work on *Bestia*, Tainy has partnered with BACARDÍ Rum for the brand’s “Do What Moves You” campaign, reimagining the cherished classic “Tu Sonrisa” by Elvis Crespo. Reflecting on this endeavour, Tainy acknowledged the weight of responsibility he felt in transforming such an iconic song. He aimed to retain the original’s essence while merging it with contemporary sounds, emphasising the importance of creating a natural flow in his remix.
“Tu Sonrisa” evokes fond memories of Tainy’s childhood in Puerto Rico, making the project especially meaningful. He remarked, “Elvis Crespo is a really big artist. So for us to come together and decide on ‘Tu Sonrisa’ as the one we want to bring into this new generation, it feels close to home.” In the studio, Tainy experimented with various percussion elements, crafting sections that would enhance the inherent beauty of Crespo’s work.
