Brickhouse commended the pilots for their response under challenging conditions. “It’s true that sometimes pilots may try to veer left or right to avert danger,” he explained. “However, that could have escalated the situation even further. Based on our current understanding, the pilots performed admirably under duress, potentially saving many lives despite their own tragic fate.”
As the investigation proceeds, authorities from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and LaGuardia Airport have confirmed that the firetruck was responding to a separate emergency on the runway at the time of the collision.
