A Florida woman, Mandolyn Shaffer-Brockwell, aged 37, has been apprehended and charged following a series of alarming road rage incidents that occurred in Millenia Boulevard on 23 February. The Orlando Police Department (OPD) has reported multiple allegations, including assaults against a pregnant woman and an elderly bystander, as well as resisting arrest.

The incident reportedly began when Shaffer-Brockwell became involved in a dispute with another driver. As per the police report, the pregnant woman, who was driving at the time, stated that Shaffer-Brockwell had been aggressively driving in front of her vehicle. In an attempt to escape the situation, the pregnant driver honked and swerved to change lanes, only for Shaffer-Brockwell to cut across two lanes of traffic to confront her.
Witness accounts indicate that Shaffer-Brockwell aggressively approached the vehicle after it came to a halt. Allegedly, she exclaimed “Honk at me again, (expletive)” before jumping onto the hood of the pregnant woman’s car. Once on the vehicle, she opened the door and purportedly delivered a punch to the victim’s face. This attack allegedly occurred while the woman had her child in the car, as she reported during a subsequent emergency call to the police.
Matters escalated when a 68-year-old woman, who witnessed the incident, interceded in an attempt to assist the pregnant victim. According to police reports, Shaffer-Brockwell admonished the older woman to “Get back in your (expletive) car,” before allegedly scratching and striking her. These violent actions prompted calls for police intervention, resulting in officers swiftly arriving at the scene.
Upon police arrival, officers attempted to detain Shaffer-Brockwell, who reportedly refused to comply. The arresting officers described her as resisting violently. Video footage released by the OPD shows her on the ground during her arrest, during which she allegedly bit one of the officers on the arm, complicating the apprehension process. “Don’t bite me!” one officer is heard exclaiming in the footage as they struggled to restrain her.
Shaffer-Brockwell now faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, battery on a person over 65, and resisting arrest with violence. Each of these charges underscores the severity of her alleged actions during the incident. Describing the situation, an OPD representative stated, “Video shows the suspect attacking and injuring an elderly victim. The victim provided a description of Shaffer-Brockwell and her vehicle, and an officer quickly located her.”
The two victims involved in the confrontation have not been publicly identified. However, the pregnant woman, aged 35, detailed the traumatic experience in her 911 call, expressing her distress over being assaulted while her child was present in the car.
In the aftermath of the incident, Shaffer-Brockwell was taken into custody, whereupon she continued to express resistance. As shown in video footage, when an officer informed her of her detention, she responded with, “I plead the fifth,” and demanded an explanation for her arrest. This defiance captures the chaotic and tense nature of the arrest situation.
Reports indicate that both victims sustained injuries, and the case has garnered significant media attention across local news channels. Authorities are yet to release further information regarding the condition of the victims following the confrontation.
