**Former Reality TV Contestant Cashel Barnett Sentenced for Serious Offences**

Cashel Barnett, a former contestant on Love Island USA, was sentenced on 16 March to remain incarcerated following serious felony charges that came to light in recent months. Barnett has been in police custody since his arrest in June 2025.
The sentencing was part of a plea agreement that Barnett entered, in which he admitted guilt to multiple charges across two separate cases. The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office confirmed that he pleaded guilty to second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse, as well as a pair of third-degree felonies for aggravated assault and domestic violence that occurred in the presence of a child.
Details surrounding the case revealed that the charges stemmed from allegations made by the mother of Barnett’s daughter. In his January plea, he acknowledged that on 10 April 2025, he had caused harm and endangered the well-being of his partner in a distressing incident that unfolded in front of their minor child.
According to court documents, during an argument, Barnett admitted to restricting the victim’s breathing by placing both hands on her throat. The victim reported to the police that he had picked her up by the neck and forcefully slammed her onto a bed, applying pressure that left her unable to breathe and with blurred vision. Barnett’s one-year jail sentence was confirmed by the district attorney’s office, with credit applied for the time he has already spent in custody since his initial plea.
