Bunnie Xo, the host of the popular “Dumb Blonde Podcast,” has opened up about her decision to undergo a facelift at the age of 46, attributing her choice to remnants of cosmetic fillers that have lingered in her face. In recent episodes of her podcast, she candidly discussed the experience of trying to eliminate fillers, which she claims did not dissolve as expected.

The podcaster, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, posted to social media detailing her facelift journey, indicating that despite ceasing filler treatments over three years ago and having some dissolved on multiple occasions, significant amounts remained. During an Instagram Reel shared shortly after the surgery, she explained, “Please take it from me, filler doesn’t dissolve in your body like we are told.”

In the lead-up to her surgery on March 15, Bunnie encouraged her followers to keep her in their thoughts, stating that she had long contemplated the facelift. She expressed her desire to balance her views on self-love and body positivity with her personal choices concerning cosmetic procedures. Previously, she had warned against fillers based on her own experiences and expressed regret about past surgeries.
Accompanied by her doctor in a video clip, Bunnie Xo was shown an ultrasound of her face, revealing numerous pockets of leftover filler. As she related her astonishment that so much filler still remained despite previous treatments, her doctor reiterated, “Well, it doesn’t all go away.” Bunnie playfully urged him to “get it all out!” highlighting her frustration with the situation.
Reflecting on her decision to go under the knife, Bunnie noted that the development of allergic reactions and swelling prompted her to seek the facelift. “It would be itchy, it would cause swelling in my cheeks, and it continued to migrate to other places,” she explained. The procedure allowed for the removal of the problematic filler, which she credited to her experienced surgeon, Dr Gould.
After undergoing the procedure, Bunnie provided a glimpse into her recovery through social media. In one post-surgery video, she displayed a swollen face, wrapped in gauze, and noted her condition with humour as she lip-synced to a comedic soundbite. “Day 1,” she captioned the clip, playfully dismissing concerns about her appearance.
While navigating her recovery process, Bunnie remains committed to creating content for her fans, promising that new episodes of her podcast are on the horizon despite the physical changes she anticipates. In a previous episode, she stated, “I’m going to look crazy, guys. I’m going to be bruised. It’s going to be a little weird. Don’t freak out. My doctor is really f—ing good, so everything’s going to go great.”
Throughout her discussion about cosmetic procedures, Bunnie has made it clear that she values authenticity and self-love. In earlier segments of her podcast, she has expressed a longstanding plan to pursue a facelift upon turning 46, viewing it as a necessary step rather than a contradiction to her message of body positivity.
As she embarks on this new chapter of her cosmetic journey, Bunnie Xo continues to engage with her audience about her experiences and the realities of cosmetic procedures. Her exposure of the challenges surrounding fillers serves to inform others who may be considering similar treatments and encourages discussions around the complexities of beauty standards in modern society.
In sharing her experience, Bunnie hopes to foster transparency and dialogue about the sometimes unspoken issues related to cosmetic enhancement, ultimately promoting a message of understanding and acceptance regarding individual choices and their consequences.
