Shaya Charvet, the son of actors David Charvet and Brooke Burke, is stepping into the limelight as he launches an innovative weightlifting programme in Los Angeles. At just 18 years old, Charvet has teamed up with Maria Chase, the founder of BURN, to unveil BUILD, a unique approach to fitness that incorporates LED light and heated infrared technology.

In a recent interview, Charvet shared insights into his journey towards launching BUILD. He revealed that he has dedicated the last five years to training intensively, working out six to seven days a week as he honed his skills and physique. “We’ve been collaborating on the programme for the past ten months, perfecting the reps, sets, and overall format,” Charvet explained, indicating that a meticulous approach has informed the development of BUILD.
Charvet’s passion for fitness has deep roots, stemming from his childhood experiences in sports and the gym alongside his father. However, it was his encounters with sports injuries, including a broken leg, a spinal injury, and surgeries for a broken collarbone, that truly ignited his interest in personal training. He expressed that fitness became a stable outlet during challenging times. “I realised that there was something I truly loved, and now I have a chance to help others navigate through their own difficulties,” Charvet reflected.

The process of creating BUILD has allowed Charvet to embrace a philosophy of “trial and error.” He expressed enthusiasm about discovering what works in workout design while learning from Chase. “Working with Maria has been enjoyable; we share a similar mindset and bouncing ideas off one another has led to great outcomes,” he said.
Maria Chase, who has been friends with David Charvet for over a decade, echoed Charvet’s sentiments about the partnership. “We connected immediately, sharing a common passion for fitness and nutrition. Developing BUILD together felt natural,” she stated. This longstanding friendship has fostered a strong professional rapport, with both parties complimentary of each other’s strengths in building a balanced team.

Charvet acknowledged the integral role his father has played in his fitness journey, stating that both of his parents instilled a belief that anything is possible with dedication. “My parents taught me that there’s nothing that can stop you if you truly give it everything you have,” he noted. Such encouragement appears to motivate Charvet as he continues to push boundaries within the fitness industry.
When asked about his workout regime, Charvet highlighted the importance of consistency. “I’ve been committed to my training for the past four to five years, focusing on weight training regularly while maintaining a balanced diet of four to five meals a day,” he explained. He emphasised how the incorporation of infrared and LED technology through BUILD has significantly improved his recovery time, allowing him to train more effectively.
Chase added that collaborating with Charvet has revitalised her passion for bodybuilding, prompting a renewed appreciation for the transformative power of weight training. “Shaya’s enthusiasm has reminded me of why I fell in love with fitness in the first place,” she remarked.
Despite his disciplined approach to fitness, Charvet also makes room for indulgences. He revealed that when seeking a cheat meal, Dave’s Hot Chicken is his go-to choice. “I like to enjoy a chicken sandwich and soda once in a while. I’m more inclined towards salty foods than sweets,” he admitted.
Drawing from his own experience, Charvet believes achieving fitness goals doesn’t require an extraordinary routine. “It’s really about consistency — training three to five times a week for an hour, coupled with proper nutrition, sleep, and training. It’s simpler than many think,” he stated, underscoring that fundamental principles remain key to success.
As he approaches graduation from high school, Charvet is poised to carve a path for himself within the fitness industry. On the prospect of gaining wider visibility through the BURN campaign, he expressed a mix of excitement and caution. “I’m trying to remain level-headed and consistent. While I don’t know what to expect, I look forward to building a supportive community and showcasing our work,” Charvet concluded.
With BUILD set to make waves in the fitness community, Shaya Charvet is ready to embrace his role as a fitness innovator, underpinned by his personal experiences and commitment to helping others achieve their goals.
