Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes, both well-known figures in the professional wrestling scene, have announced the birth of their twin daughters, Karma Star Szatkowski and Saba Zen Szatkowski. The couple shared their joyous news exclusively with *PEOPLE*, following a difficult journey that included a high-risk pregnancy and an extended stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The twins were born prematurely on December 26, 2025, with Karma weighing 3 lbs., 14 oz. and measuring 17.3 inches, while Saba weighed a slightly healthier 4 lbs., 8.6 oz. and measured 18 inches. After spending several weeks in the NICU, the family has finally reunited at home, allowing them to cherish moments together as a family.
Katie, aged 35, reflected on her intense experience during the final weeks of her pregnancy, stating that it became particularly challenging when she began experiencing flu-like symptoms early in December. This prompted her to call her doctor, who advised her to visit the hospital immediately.
“I was admitted to labor and delivery due to preeclampsia, with dangerously high blood pressure and one of the twins exhibiting signs of distress,” Katie disclosed. She described her hospital stay, which extended to four weeks, as a time of uncertainty, while doctors worked tirelessly to ensure that the twins would stay in the womb as long as possible. Given that they were born two and a half months premature, every moment was crucial.
On the day of delivery, the couple opted for a Caesarean section. Katie conveyed the anxiety she felt as she prepared for the operation, although she found immense comfort in having Rob by her side throughout the ordeal. “My family was there cheering me on, and Rob stayed right by my side with the best energy,” she noted.
Recalling the emotional moment when Karma was born, Katie described how the room erupted in cheers of “Happy Birthday!” as she celebrated the arrival of her first daughter. “I started crying happy tears,” she said. Just three minutes later, Saba made her entrance, adding to the couple’s joy.
However, the journey was not without its challenges. Saba required immediate medical attention as doctors grew concerned about her health, particularly regarding potential seizures. She was hastily taken to another NICU, while Karma remained under observation for her own health issues.
Katie provided reassurance that despite the worries, all tests for Saba came back clear, allowing her to be transferred back to the original NICU four days later. This emotional reunion took place on December 31, coinciding with Katie’s birthday, making it an especially memorable occasion for the couple.
Reflecting on their time spent in the NICU, both Rob Van Dam, aged 55, and Katie shared the emotional toll it took on them. “It was really hard and sad to leave our daughters every day,” Rob expressed, underscoring the gravity of their situation. “We visited, held, and fed them each day, witnessing their struggles and triumphs until they were ready to return home.”
The couple expressed gratitude for the excellent care provided by the staff in the NICU, as they sought reassurance during what was undoubtedly a daunting experience. They added, “We trusted they were in good hands with the nurses, doctors, and all the equipment.”
Having finally brought their daughters home, Rob and Katie could not contain their excitement. They described their overwhelming joy and emphasised their commitment to treasuring every moment with their new family. “Our family is finally back together, and we are absolutely over the moon,” they said.
