A young girl’s adventurous spirit went viral recently, following a cheeky escapade involving lip gloss at her daycare. Sadie Onderwater, a three-year-old from Canada, found herself the centre of attention after her mother Mallori shared a humorous video from the daycare.

Mallori Onderwater, a 33-year-old mother of two, recounted how an ordinary morning turned into an amusing anecdote. As she was preparing Sadie for daycare, she caught her daughter in a moment of playful defiance, applying Frozen-themed lip gloss from a children’s makeup kit that belonged to her older sister, Nina, who is five. Despite being reminded not to take outside toys to daycare, Sadie appeared to have a plan in mind.

“That morning, I was buckling her into her car seat when I saw her applying the lip gloss,” Mallori explained. “I reminded her that the daycare had recently asked parents to avoid sending in outside toys. She gave me a smile and said, ‘Okay,’ which, looking back, was probably the first clue that she would not follow the rules.”

What unfolded later in the day was a delightful surprise for Mallori when she received a video from the daycare. The clip showed Sadie reaching under her dress, into her underwear, to retrieve the forbidden lip gloss, all while sporting a big grin. It was a moment that sparked laughter not only from Sadie’s parents but also from her daycare teachers, who shared in the hilarity of the situation.
“We couldn’t help but laugh when we saw the video,” Mallori shared. “Sadie handed it over immediately. She’s such a sweet girl, so it was hard not to find it funny. Her teachers were laughing too, and everyone thought it was just a hilarious moment.”
Sadie’s fascination with makeup stems from her admiration for her older sister Nina. Mallori revealed that Nina had received a non-toxic kids’ makeup kit for her fourth birthday, prompting the sisters to engage in imaginative play together. This bonding experience only heightened Sadie’s enthusiasm for all things beauty-related.
“Sadie wanted to emulate everything her big sister did, which is how she got into makeup as well,” Mallori noted. “They spend a lot of time together playing with accessories and dressing up.”
Despite her sisterly influence, Mallori described Sadie as a blend of sweetness and mischief. While Sadie is affectionate and loving, frequently showering her family with hugs, she also possesses a playful side that keeps her parents guessing. “She has this mischievous streak, and you can always tell when she’s up to something by the cheeky grin on her face,” Mallori remarked. “It’s all in good fun, but it definitely keeps us on our toes.”
Reflecting on this light-hearted experience, Mallori expressed how fortunate she feels to have her daughters. “It’s a reminder of how wonderful kids are. We feel incredibly lucky to have these sweet, funny little girls who make us laugh every day,” she said. She added with a touch of humour, “And maybe I should start doing a quick pat down before drop-off at daycare!”
The incident serves as a light-hearted reminder of the joy and innocence of childhood. In a world where parenting can sometimes feel overwhelming, moments like this showcase the playful spirit of young children and the laughter they bring into their families’ lives.
