Vitoria was reported missing after she was seen on CCTV jumping over a fence at a boatyard just after midnight on the night of her disappearance. Days later, on March 9, a white tote bag belonging to her was discovered near Copperas Road, raising further alarm. The police later identified footage that appears to show Vitoria making her way to the shoreline, where she may have accessed a boat moored at a pontoon.
On March 14, authorities reported a significant development in the case: they located a laptop believed to be Vitoria’s in Brightlingsea, which is also situated in the Tendring District of Essex. This discovery adds to the frantic search but does not yet provide conclusive answers about her whereabouts. Detectives are currently following various leads, including several potential sightings of Vitoria in the nearby Bradwell area.

Detective Superintendent Anna Granger of Essex Police acknowledged the emotional toll this situation has taken, particularly on Vitoria’s mother, Gleyz Barreto. She expressed the determination of law enforcement to locate Vitoria and bring her home safely. “Every single officer, staff member and volunteer involved in this search would love nothing more than to reunite Vitoria with her mum,” Granger stated.
The police have had an increased presence in the Bradwell and Dengie regions to follow up on the reported sightings and assess any additional information the community may have. Meanwhile, Gleyz has made a heartfelt appeal to the public, imploring anyone who might see Vitoria to approach her with care. “We know Vitoria is probably not feeling herself; she might be scared.
