The investigation into Edmondson commenced after a deputy principal at an undisclosed school received a tip-off from a concerned member of the public. This informant reported having seen a video on TikTok, which appeared to have been filmed on school grounds. Upon reviewing the video, which allegedly featured explicit content, the deputy principal identified the classroom and recognised Edmondson’s voice and clothing.

The video in question depicted a person discussing having a full bladder while urinating on the floor inside a classroom, with female genitalia visible. The deputy principal was also shown another clip allegedly involving Edmondson, which featured her urinating on a hat placed inside a lost property box. Alarmed by these discoveries, the deputy principal quickly informed the school’s principal, and Edmondson was placed on paid leave.
Following this, the principal engaged the school’s IT provider to investigate any related accounts and materials. The investigation revealed that Edmondson possessed an online account displaying over 30 pornographic videos along with several explicit photographs. Notably, three of these videos bore titles related to educational contexts.
In May 2023, Edmondson received notice of a formal investigation and subsequently resigned from her position. Evidence emerged suggesting that she failed to disclose her prior misconduct when she sought employment at a second school after leaving her initial job.
During the tribunal proceedings, Edmondson denied the allegations, asserting that she had not repeatedly created pornographic content at the school. According to her testimony, she claimed to have staged one of the videos to give the impression that it was filmed in a school environment. She attributed her actions to struggles with anxiety, depression, and personal challenges at the time and stated that she deleted the videos shortly after they came to light in an effort to mitigate any potential harm.
Edmondson also defended herself against accusations of deceit by highlighting that she thought it was necessary to maintain confidentiality regarding the report when she resigned from her first teaching position.
Despite her explanations, the tribunal concluded that Edmondson had exploited her role as an educator and her access to school facilities in a manner deemed offensive to many. In light of the severity of these findings, her teaching certification was revoked, and she was subjected to a fine.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities held by educators in maintaining professional boundaries and the significant consequences of failing to uphold these standards. The case highlights the importance of safeguarding children and ensuring that school environments remain safe and respectful.
