A tragic incident has unfolded involving an Ohio mother who passed away following complications from a tummy tuck procedure. Rachel Tussey, aged 47, shared her journey leading up to the surgery with her substantial following of over 25,000 on TikTok, including videos documenting her preparations and excitement.

Prior to the operation, which took place on February 25, Tussey expressed her anticipation in a heartfelt video, urging her followers to pray for her success. “I’m in good hands, I know God’s got my back. Let’s do this,” she stated, radiating optimism as she prepared for the cosmetic procedure, often referred to as a “mommy makeover.”
However, the situation took a devastating turn shortly after the procedure. On March 3, Rachel’s husband, Jeremy, provided an update on TikTok indicating that the surgery did not go as expected. He recounted receiving a phone call at approximately 5:45 p.m. instructing him to return to the recovery room. Upon his arrival, the attending physician allegedly assured him that everything had gone smoothly.
As Jeremy entered the recovery area, he heard his wife calling out for him. Yet, moments later, the mood shifted dramatically. After being administered pain relief, Rachel’s condition quickly deteriorated, with Jeremy noting her complexion appeared off. “Next thing you know, I look down and her face is off colour,” he recalled. Despite Jeremy’s instinctual sense that something was wrong, he felt the response from the nursing staff lacked urgency.
When Rachel became unresponsive after calling her name, nurses began performing CPR. “I’m just a dumb construction worker, but I could tell something was wrong,” Jeremy said, expressing his frustration with the perceived response from the medical team. Following this, Rachel’s plastic surgeon was called back to assess the situation and soon instructed staff to contact emergency services.
An ambulance transported Rachel to TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital, where she was placed on life support. Tragically, Jeremy revealed that she had been without oxygen for over six minutes, and he later received the harrowing news that Rachel had been declared brain dead.
