Renowned English singer-songwriter Harry Styles is set to unveil his fourth studio album, titled *Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.*, on 6th March. With the release just around the corner, Styles has opened up about his evolving approach to music in a recent interview with *Runner’s World*.

In a candid conversation with celebrated Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, featured in the Spring issue of the magazine, Styles discussed the inspiration he gained from Murakami’s book, *What I Talk About When I Talk About Running*. The 32-year-old expressed appreciation for the idea that a healthy lifestyle can coexist with a successful artistic career, moving away from the archetype of the tortured artist.
“I really loved your book about running,” Styles shared with Murakami. He reflected on its effect on his perception of music, stating, “It freed me from the idea that music had to be an unhealthy profession and I had to be this tortured soul.” Styles underlined the importance of maintaining physical and mental health in order to prolong one’s artistic journey, expressing gratitude for Murakami’s insights.
Murakami, for his part, reminisced about the tragic fates of iconic musicians who succumbed early to the pressures of fame and lifestyle. “Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix. They lived fast and died young,” he remarked, highlighting that he had no desire to follow a similar path.
Styles’ reflections come just days before the launch of his new album, which he describes as a sort of life mantra. In a previous interview with Hits Radio, he elaborated on the album’s title, suggesting that while celebrating and enjoying life is important, it is not feasible to remain in a state of perpetual celebration. “You can’t be at the disco all the time,” he said thoughtfully.
He continued, “Loving and moving through your life with love and taking a break every now and then to have some fun is a really good way to approach life. That’s what I felt like I did the last couple of years, and it led to positive changes in my life.”
At the heart of this new album lies Styles’ desire to channel the immersive experiences he has had while enjoying electronic music. During a break he took in 2024—marking his first substantial time off—he found a newfound appreciation for the genre. “Good electronic music is so good, you know—especially the melodic aspect,” he explained.
Styles described nights out where he felt a strong sense of community, while simultaneously witnessing individuals having their unique experiences on the dance floor. “I wanted to recreate what I had on the dance floor, being lost in instrumentation and the musicality,” he detailed. His aim for the album is to cultivate a live experience that engages the audience, making them feel part of the musical journey rather than a passive listener.
As fans eagerly anticipate the release of *Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.*, Styles is set to perform the entire album during a Netflix concert special titled *Harry Styles: One Night in Manchester*, scheduled to premiere on 8th March. With his latest work, Styles continues to evolve as an artist, prioritising both his well-being and the shared joy of music.
