The beloved Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida is undergoing a significant transformation. Originally featuring the famous rock band Aerosmith, the attraction closed on March 1, 2023, after a 27-year run and is set to be revamped into the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

Immediately following its closure, all references to Aerosmith were dismantled from the ride. A recent video shared by a Disney enthusiast on TikTok revealed the removal of the band’s name from the signage, alongside the covering of a poster outside the attraction. According to Disney news site WDWMagic, preparations for the new iteration of the coaster are well underway.
As the transformation begins, onlookers can see wooden walls erected around the attraction, signalling an exciting but substantial change. The revamped version, which is anticipated to debut in the summer of 2026, aims to infuse the whimsical charm of The Muppets into the ride experience.
Guests will be welcomed to a recording studio-like environment, allowing them to observe members of The Electric Mayhem, the fictional band from The Muppet franchise, in action amid a creative setting. The new design will also include entertaining elements such as penguins serving as audio engineers and various performance scenes featuring the beloved Muppet characters.
Park officials first announced this major shift in June 2025, revealing that the Muppets would take over as hosts of the roller coaster, a role previously occupied by Aerosmith since the ride’s launch in 1999. This development came shortly after Muppet*Vision 3D concluded its 34-year run in the park on June 7, prompting a fresh direction for the Muppet franchise within the Disney landscape.
Following its official closure, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was briefly reopened on March 2 for visitors to access the Disney Villains show, although the main attraction was still closed for refurbishment. Signage at the entrance now proudly declares, “We’re Moving Right Along. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is currently closed as we load in the band!” which pays homage to the iconic Muppet song “Movin’ Right Along” from The Muppet Movie.
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton took the opportunity to ride the coaster one last time, sharing his experience on Instagram. In a heartfelt post, he expressed gratitude for the years spent sharing the ride with fans, poignantly capturing the nostalgia attached to this cherished attraction.
