Mom Was Fatally Stabbed, Allegedly by Apparent Stranger, While Waiting at Virginia Bus Stop

A tragic incident occurred in Hybla Valley, Virginia, where a mother was fatally stabbed whilst waiting at a bus shelter. Stephanie Nicole Minter, aged 41, was discovered with multiple stab wounds on the evening of February 23, prompting an immediate investigation by Fairfax County Police.

Officers received an emergency call around 7:16 p.m. and promptly arrived at the scene, located at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Arlington Drive. Minter, originally from Fredericksburg, had sustained significant injuries to her upper body. Despite the rapid efforts of officers to administer life-saving procedures, she was pronounced dead on-site by emergency medical crews.

In the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a 32-year-old suspect, Abdul Jalloh, through an analysis of surveillance footage and interviews with witnesses. Officers apprehended Jalloh, initially linking him to a separate incident of petit larceny that had been reported earlier in the day. Upon further investigation, the police discovered compelling evidence connecting him to Minter’s death, resulting in a warrant for second-degree murder.

Jalloh is currently being held without bond. While investigators have yet to disclose any potential motives for the attack, the severity of the crime has drawn significant attention to his criminal history. Prior records indicate that he entered the United States illegally in 2012. After he received a final order of removal from the country in 2020, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer against him shortly after Minter’s death.

Family and friends of Minter have expressed profound sorrow regarding her untimely loss. She is survived by her son, Caden Montague, and her loved ones remembered her as “a happy, jolly individual, filled with love and adoration for her loved ones.” Her obituary noted that Minter brought “light into dark places,” underscoring the impact she had on those around her.

In recent updates, reports have surfaced revealing Jalloh’s troubling past, including more than 30 previous arrests. Notably, he had been accused of serious offences, including an alleged rape in 2018, as well as multiple stabbings. Most recently, in February 2023, Jalloh pleaded guilty to charges of malicious wounding stemming from an attack on a 73-year-old man.
