A 35-year-old woman named Sarah Edery has gained significant attention on TikTok after sharing her journey through three separate divorces, even as she prepares for her fourth wedding. Edery has taken to social media to address common stigmas surrounding divorce, particularly the cultural pressure often placed on women. Her candid portrayal of her experiences aims to inspire others to embrace new opportunities for love, rather than shy away from the possibility of remarriage.

In an interview with Newsweek, Edery expressed her intention behind sharing her story, saying, “I like to throw [out] that I’ve been divorced three times as a fun fact because people find it interesting and I’m never going to see them again.” She explained that the people closest to her understand her situation and the complexities behind her decisions. Edery emphasised her happiness and confidence as she navigates life post-divorce, asserting that women should feel empowered to make choices that benefit them. “There is so much negative stigma on women getting divorced and shamed for it. My hope is to show women it’s okay to get divorced and that life does get better,” she stated.

Edery’s viral TikTok video, which has amassed over 30,000 likes and half a million views, addresses the concept of marriage and why she is willing to embark on that journey once again. “Many of you may be asking, ‘Why get married again?’” she begins, acknowledging potential scepticism from viewers. After her third divorce, Edery had reassessed her view on marriage, deciding that the most crucial aspect was finding a lifelong partner, rather than the act of marriage itself.
Reflecting on her past relationships, Edery revealed that she met her first husband at the young age of 19. They married in 2010, but their relationship faltered within six months when he was stationed in South Korea while serving in the Army. This separation crystallised her feelings about the relationship, leading to their divorce by November 2011.
Two years later, Edery married her second husband, but it became apparent soon after their wedding that the relationship was not meant to last. Despite their rapid courtship, she kept issues surrounding the marriage largely secret, acknowledging that she had unresolved trauma from her past. With support from therapy, Edery decided to end her second marriage in December 2013.
In May 2017, Edery took the plunge for the third time, marrying after a year of dating. However, by September 2018, the couple had separated. Edery’s story took a positive turn when she met her current fiancé, Kevin, in June 2023 at a wedding where she served as a bridesmaid. Though initially hesitant about marriage—Kevin, like Edery, is also divorced—their relationship progressed naturally, leading them to consider marriage once more.
During her recent social media post, Edery recounted a family incident that reinforced her desire to marry Kevin despite previously questioning the necessity of marriage. “I remembered an accident my cousin had and how her partner couldn’t get any information or make decisions because they weren’t married,” she shared, noting that they discussed the implications for potential future children. This led to their joint decision to pursue marriage.
As they prepare for their wedding in June, Edery and Kevin plan to host a modest ceremony with around 30 guests. While she acknowledges that marriage may not be essential for everyone, her commitment to making it work this time feels resolute. “Marriage is not the end-all, be-all thing,” Edery concluded, adding that they are determined to approach the union with the seriousness it deserves.
Sarah Edery’s frank discussion of her experiences with divorce and subsequent relationships serves as a reminder that everyone’s journey is unique. Her story underscores the importance of resilience, the power of personal choice, and the possibility of finding love across multiple chapters of life.
