Musician J.I.D. has resurrected the beloved “Hey Tony!” jingle from the 1990s, giving a modern twist to the iconic tune associated with Tony the Tiger and Frosted Flakes. The Atlanta native, now 32, has crafted a fresh version that transforms the nostalgic breakfast jingle into an empowering anthem aimed at encouraging both young people and the young-at-heart.

In an interview with PEOPLE, J.I.D. explained his motivation for revamping the classic, stating, “Frosted Flakes and Tony the Tiger were part of my childhood. Flipping the ‘Hey Tony’ jingle into something new felt natural. The nostalgia is real, but this was also about giving today’s generation a soundtrack that pushes them to be confident and go after what’s theirs.”
For many who grew up in the 1990s, the original jingle holds fond memories, with its catchy chorus that celebrated the merits of Frosted Flakes and Tony himself. The retro lyrics sang, “Hey Tony!/ I like the things you do / Hey Tony! / If I could, I would be you / You’re the one and only tiger / with the one and only taste / You know how to take a breakfast and make it / GRRR-REAT!”

J.I.D.’s reimagined rendition incorporates the familiar refrain while introducing uplifting new lyrics. He encourages listeners with lines that emphasise motivation and self-belief, stating, “Every day we get the chance / to wake up and motivate.” His collaboration with the character culminates in the tiger’s iconic roar of “GRRR-REAT!” which rounds off this upbeat message.
Reflecting on the collaboration, J.I.D. remarked, “Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes and Tony the Tiger were a real staple in our house growing up. It was just part of the routine.” The partnership extends beyond merely recreating a jingle; it includes a limited-edition merchandise line featuring both J.I.D. and Tony the Tiger, as well as Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes. This collection includes jerseys and t-shirts, with a special cereal box available exclusively on J.I.D.’s Official Store.

Laura Newman, the Vice President of Brand Marketing at WK Kellogg Co., expressed excitement over the collaboration, stating, “Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes and Tony the Tiger have always stood for encouragement and belief.” She noted that hip-hop culture shares a similar ethos, making J.I.D. a fitting choice to breathe new life into the partnership.
The anticipated debut of the new track “HEY TONY!” is set to take place at the Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes “Day Ones” Bowl Game on 22 February 2026. This event will not only showcase J.I.D.’s new music but also feature a marching band performance from his alma mater, the Stephenson High School “Sonic Sound” Marching Band from Stone Mountain, Georgia. Additionally, the event will include a series of 7-on-7 football matches, adding to the festivities.
In a gesture of community support, Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes will contribute to funding new equipment and facility improvements for all four teams participating in the games through their Mission Tiger™ initiative. This aligns with the overarching theme of empowerment and encouragement that J.I.D. aims to instil through his work.
Overall, J.I.D.’s reinvention of the “Hey Tony!” jingle not only celebrates a cherished piece of childhood nostalgia but also serves as a modern-day rallying cry for the next generation. With an emphasis on motivation and potential, the project is set to resonate with audiences of all ages while honouring the legacy of a beloved breakfast staple.
