Actress Tori Spelling recently disclosed to PEOPLE that her older children have been coming up with rather risqué positions for their Elf on the Shelf figures. The ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ star, who shares five children with her ex-husband Dean McDermott, mentioned that she had to intervene and veto some of the displays.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, Spelling shared that it’s the first year her older kids have taken charge of arranging the mischievous elves each night. “I have passed on the baton,” she explained, referring to her children Liam Aaron, Stella Doreen, Hattie Margaret, Finn Davey, and Beau Dean.
Spelling elaborated that her daughters Stella and Hattie have been the primary creators of these night-time Elf on the Shelf displays. However, when the boys get involved in rearranging the elves on certain days, the scenes take a different turn, she hinted.
On one particular occasion, Spelling had to step in early in the morning to adjust the elf positions. She jokingly remarked, “Let’s just say I had to come down…I came down early the other day and I had to change the elves’ positions. I was like, ‘No.'”
Despite the occasional need to correct the displays set up by her sons, Spelling highlighted how her youngest child, Beau, has been enjoying the age-appropriate ideas his siblings have come up with. From a themed setup inspired by ‘Stranger Things,’ it’s evident that the children’s creativity shines through in these scenarios.
Reflecting on her experience as a mother, Spelling expressed the challenges and joys that come with parenting. She described the journey as feeling like climbing, falling, and getting back up every single day. However, she also emphasised the importance of having a positive co-parenting dynamic with McDermott.
Grateful for their amicable relationship post-divorce, Spelling revealed, “We love and care about each other so much, and I was shocked just because I always read horror stories…and it was super easy and loving. We do family dinners, we do everything together, so it’s really good for the kids.” This showcases a heartwarming co-parenting model for their children.
In a world where familial relationships post-divorce can often be tumultuous, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott set an example of effective co-parenting, putting their children’s well-being at the forefront. The actress’s candid revelations about her family life bring a refreshing perspective on navigating parenthood amidst challenges and maintaining a harmonious environment for all involved.
