Matthew Perry’s parents have penned heartfelt statements ahead of the sentencing of a doctor involved in the actor’s tragic passing in October 2023. Dr. Salvador Plasencia pleaded guilty in July to providing ketamine to Perry before his death. Plasencia is one of five individuals facing legal consequences in connection with Perry’s untimely demise. The Morrisons, Suzanne, and Keith, Perry’s mum and stepdad, along with his dad, John, and stepmom, Debby, have submitted emotional victim impact letters in anticipation of Plasencia’s sentencing on December 3, as per Rolling Stone.

In their poignant letter, Suzanne and Keith Morrison express the profound grief and loss they feel over the tragic death of their son, Matthew Perry. They describe the pain of losing Perry as a ‘deep well’ with no end in sight. The letter paints a heartbreaking picture of their efforts to support their son through his struggles, only to be devastated by the actions of those they refer to as ‘greedy jackals’ who exploited him. The Morrisons hold Plasencia accountable, labelling him as “among the most culpable of all” for his part in the tragedy.
Plasencia’s plea agreement revealed that he provided ketamine, ketamine lozenges, and syringes to Perry and his live-in personal assistant between September 30, 2023, and October 12, 2023. Perry’s cause of death was determined to be a combination of factors, including the acute effects of ketamine, drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine. The letter from Perry’s parents highlights the promising future that was cruelly snatched away from their son and condemns the doctor’s actions as a betrayal of trust.
The statement also reflects on the public awareness of Matthew Perry’s struggles with addiction and mental health issues, questioning the motives of a doctor who exploited his vulnerabilities for personal gain. John and Debby Perry echoed the sentiments of Suzanne and Keith, expressing their devastation over the loss of a beloved family member and lamenting the betrayal of trust by a medical professional. They call for a harsh sentence to reflect the gravity of Plasencia’s actions and the harm caused.
In August 2024, Plasencia and four others were arrested in connection with Perry’s death. Jasveen Sangha, known as “The Ketamine Queen,” faced charges related to distributing ketamine. Sangha reached a plea deal in 2025 and is scheduled for sentencing on December 10. The defendants, including Perry’s assistant and medical professionals, were accused of exploiting Perry for financial gain. The case serves as a tragic reminder of the devastating consequences of substance abuse and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the impact of Matthew Perry’s passing continues to reverberate, shedding light on the complexities of addiction, mental health, and the responsibilities of medical professionals. The emotional letters penned by Perry’s parents serve as a poignant reminder of the human cost of exploitation and the enduring pain of losing a loved one. The sentencing of those involved in Perry’s death carries significant weight for his family and fans, seeking justice and accountability in the wake of a profound loss.
