Three-Year-Old Boy Tragically Run Over and Killed in Walmart Parking Lot

In a heartbreaking incident that shook the community, a 3-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a car in a Walmart parking lot in Englewood, Florida. The incident took place on Tuesday, Nov. 25, as the young boy, identified only as Jaxson, was standing with his mother in the parking lot at 2931 South McCall Road. His mother was in the process of putting her baby in their car when the toddler wandered in front of a nearby Jeep. The Jeep pulled forward, turning right and tragically hitting Jaxson, as reported by Gulf Coast News and WINK News, citing Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers.
Jaxson sustained critical injuries and was immediately airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, located around 90 miles north of the Walmart parking lot. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the young child succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The driver of the vehicle involved was identified as a 27-year-old woman who fortunately did not sustain any injuries in the accident. Presently, no arrests have been made, and the Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident to determine its cause and circumstances.
According to Fox 4, Jaxson’s grandfather fondly recalled the young boy as a “happy boy who was really starting to come into his own.” Sharing glimpses of Jaxson’s personality, his grandfather mentioned how the child loved attending his father’s softball games, engaging in games of catch and football, and eagerly anticipating his lessons on fishing. Despite the family’s immense grief and loss, Jaxson’s grandfather expressed empathy towards the driver involved, stating, “I feel sorry for her, it’s not her fault,” further adding, “I feel bad for her, too. No ill will towards her.”
