Role Model, the singer-songwriter who captured the hearts of millions with his hit single “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” is not letting the pressure of his viral success weigh him down. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, he revealed that he is currently focusing on writing new music and is excited about his upcoming projects.

The artist, known offstage as Tucker Pillsbury, became a sensation after his infectious single became a worldwide phenomenon, attracting famous faces and fans to join him in dance. Despite the success of “Sally,” Role Model remains unfazed about the prospect of surpassing it. He expressed his confidence in his growth as an artist, stating, “I think I’ve grown now and I can write better songs than this. So I’m not worried.”
At 28 years old, Role Model released his second album, “Kansas Anymore,” in July 2024, showcasing a more mature sound with ’70s-inspired guitars. Following the release, he introduced a deluxe edition of the album in February, featuring fan-favorite tracks like “Some Protector” and “Old Recliners.” Looking ahead, Role Model shared his ambition to release another album by next fall and confirmed that he has been diligently writing new material.
Reflecting on his recent experiences, including shooting a movie and reconnecting with old friends, Role Model expressed a shift in his creative process. Unlike before, where he would isolate himself to focus on music, he is now embracing a more social approach to inspire his work. The Maine native mentioned, “It feels different this time. I’m not pulling myself out of social experiences to write an album. I’m trying to do the opposite and experience everything right now.”
Role Model’s journey to success started in Maine, where he discovered his passion for music while studying filmmaking at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. His determination led him to write songs and reach out to local venues for performance opportunities. He recounted his early success on Spotify, where his first song gained traction and paved the way for his breakthrough in the music industry.
Despite facing initial challenges, Role Model’s perseverance paid off as he signed a record deal within a year of pursuing his music career full-time. Now, as PEOPLE’s first-ever Sexiest Man Alive centerfold, he is grateful for the support and attention his music has received, acknowledging the difficulty of maintaining audience engagement in a competitive industry.
Looking ahead, Role Model remains focused on his musical aspirations and is determined to continue creating music that resonates with his audience. As he navigates the highs and lows of fame, he appreciates the journey and the opportunities that have come his way.
