At the onset of his health issues in late August, Kyle began experiencing pain and swelling in his neck, along with night sweats. Despite seeking medical attention, he was advised by doctors that his symptoms were likely due to swollen glands and was advised to take acetaminophen, a common painkiller. However, his condition worsened, and he woke up one morning with a severely swollen face, indicating a more serious underlying problem.

Concerned, Kyle sought further medical help, but was initially told that his condition could be attributed to mumps or blocked glands and was sent home with antibiotics. As his symptoms persisted and intensified, his family insisted on him seeking more medical attention. It was during this visit that a large tumor was discovered in his chest, spreading to his bowel and tonsils.

Following a series of tests, Kyle was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer that affects white blood cells and can manifest as tumors throughout the body. His sister, Kelsey Thomas, expressed the family’s devastation upon receiving the news, highlighting the emotional toll it has taken on them.
