She made a distress call to emergency services after opening the package on October 29, only to discover two arms and four fingers packed with ice. Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel, who was called to the scene to retrieve the body parts, confirmed that there were no external markings on the package to indicate its gruesome contents. The body parts, meant for medical training purposes, were mistakenly sent to the woman’s address via a private courier.

The mix-up was attributed to an error in the delivery process, as Daniel explained that the woman’s medications were supposed to be picked up by one courier, while another courier was meant to collect the package of body parts. However, the couriers ended up exchanging the deliveries, leading to the unexpected and unsettling delivery of body parts to the woman’s doorstep. The coroner emphasised that the body parts were never intended for transplant but were specifically designated for use in surgical training. He pointed out that the body parts were supposed to remain in Nashville at a medical training facility.

Daniel managed to contact the appropriate parties, including the courier and the intended facility, ensuring that the package of body parts was retrieved and delivered to its correct destination. The woman, upon realising the contents of the package, initially mistook it for a Halloween prank due to the proximity to the festive season. Daniel recounted her composed reaction, mentioning that she appeared surprised rather than distraught when he arrived to collect the package. He commended her for promptly contacting the authorities, as it ensured a swift resolution to the unsettling situation.

As investigations unfolded, it was clarified that the source of the body parts was likely cadavers donated for medical purposes. Daniel advised anyone finding themselves in a similar situation to follow the woman’s example and promptly alert law enforcement.
