The incident took place at American Family Field during Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, where tensions ran high as the Dodgers secured a 5-1 victory. The viral video captured Kobylarczyk reacting to the Latino Dodgers fan named Ricardo Fosado, who was filming Brewers fans and engaging in banter about their team’s performance.

In the video, Kobylarczyk can be heard telling Fosado, “Real men drink beer,” before escalating the situation by suggesting she should involve United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Fosado, who is a United States citizen and a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, stood his ground and defended his presence at the game despite the woman’s threats.
Following the public outcry over her actions, Kobylarczyk’s employer, the Manpower Group, confirmed her dismissal to the media. Additionally, she voluntarily stepped down from her role in the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin organisation. Fosado recounted that he was eventually escorted out of the stadium by security after Kobylarczyk complained about his conduct, even though he maintained that he was simply engaging in playful banter with opposing fans.
Despite the tense exchange at the game, Fosado expressed empathy towards Kobylarczyk, stating that he did not believe her actions warranted such severe consequences. He emphasised that emotions were running high during the game, leading to a heated exchange, but he believed that forgiveness and understanding should prevail in such situations.
This incident serves as a reminder of the impact of words and actions in heated moments, especially in public settings like sporting events. It underscores the need for respect and tolerance towards individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of the competitive spirit that may accompany sports rivalries.
The response to this incident highlights the broader conversations around appropriate conduct and accountability in public spaces. It also showcases the power of social media in holding individuals accountable for their behaviour, as the video quickly garnered attention and prompted swift action from both Kobylarczyk’s employer and the organisation she was involved with.
As sports events continue to bring fans of diverse backgrounds together, it is essential to foster an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect. Instances like these serve as opportunities for reflection and growth, reminding us of the importance of empathy and understanding in all interactions, both on and off the field.
