Tomorrow x Together recently initiated a collaboration with UNICEF in an effort to combat the stigma surrounding discussions on mental health. The K-pop group shared their insights with PEOPLE regarding the significance of this campaign and the impact they hope it will have on their followers. Speaking to PEOPLE, the group’s leader, Soobin, revealed receiving invaluable advice from RM of BTS, assisting him in overcoming nerves before delivering a speech at UNICEF House in New York on September 30.
The K-pop sensations have united with UNICEF for the “Together for Tomorrow” campaign, which emphasises empathy, breaking stigmas, and fostering open dialogues about mental health. During a heartfelt conversation with PEOPLE at their final U.S. ACT:TOMORROW world tour show at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., the five members – Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai – expressed the profound importance of mental health in both their personal lives and professional endeavours.

Taehyun, aged 23, underlined the synchronicity between the campaign’s values, UNICEF’s principles, and their music’s essence centring on empathy. The large commitment of $1.4 million towards the initiative from BIGHIT Music exemplifies their dedication to this cause. Recognising the potential impact on their fans, collectively known as MOA (Moments of Alwaysness), Hueningkai, aged 23, affirmed their aspiration for their music to provide solace and support to those facing mental health challenges.
Beomgyu, aged 24, co-wrote and performed the song “Panic,” which resonates deeply with individuals grappling with mental health issues. The lyrics convey a message of hope and resilience, reflecting their own journey through struggles and pain. By openly discussing their experiences, the group hopes to create a safe space for others to vocalise their own tribulations.
In preparation for the campaign launch at UNICEF House in New York, Soobin navigated through nervousness, a sentiment familiar to many individuals faced with public speaking. Drawing parallels with RM’s address to the United Nations General Assembly in 2018, Soobin sought guidance and encouragement from his BTS counterpart. RM’s supportive gesture, including sharing calming techniques and a pre-speech phone call, significantly eased Soobin’s anxiety.
Throughout their ACT: TOMORROW world tour, the members prioritised their mental wellness and supported each other on and off stage. Taehyun shared lighthearted moments backstage, highlighting their camaraderie and mutual encouragement during solo performances. Beomgyu’s newfound appreciation for exploring new cities during the tour underscored the significance of self-care and personal growth for the group.
As Tomorrow x Together continues to advocate for mental health awareness, their partnership with UNICEF amplifies their message of support and understanding for individuals navigating challenges. By sharing personal anecdotes and fostering meaningful discussions, they aim to empower their fans and promote mental well-being. The group’s unwavering commitment to this cause exemplifies their deep-seated empathy and dedication to making a positive impact on society.
