In a bold legal move, Todd Nepola, the ex-husband of Real Housewives of Miami star Alexia Nepola, has initiated a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Bravo, NBCUniversal Media, and producers Purveyors of Pop. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleges that Todd’s name and likeness were improperly used without his consent during the last two seasons of the popular Bravo series.

Alexia and Todd were once a couple for seven years, tying the knot in December 2021. However, their relationship hit rocky waters, leading to Todd filing for divorce in April 2024, which was ultimately finalized in March 2025. Throughout this tumultuous period, Alexia appeared on Real Housewives of Miami, showcasing their relationship dynamics.

Todd, aged 52, asserts that the show portrayed him inaccurately, painting him as financially irresponsible despite his successful real estate ventures and solid business reputation. Seeking justice, Todd is pursuing damages exceeding $10 million, including compensation for the unauthorised use of his identity on the show, for which he is demanding an additional $1 million in restitution.
Scott Weiselberg, Todd’s legal representative, expressed the importance of rectifying the record and holding the defendants accountable for their damaging misrepresentations. Todd’s lawsuit highlights the impact of the alleged defamation, noting the lasting repercussions on his reputation, emotional well-being, and financial standing due to the widespread dissemination of falsehoods by the show.
The legal documents underscore the ongoing harm inflicted on Todd by the continued broadcast of defamatory content, which purportedly blurs the line between entertainment and malice. The lawsuit delves into the intentional manipulation of storylines and unauthorised footage, contending that the harm caused extends far beyond the initial airing and constitutes a sustained pattern of injurious behaviour by the defendants.
Todd’s discontent with how he was depicted on the show came to a head when he posted a video on Instagram, hinting at impending legal action and challenging the authenticity of the narratives presented by the producers. He rebuked Bravo for perpetuating harmful stereotypes and fostering a culture of animosity and deceit in the pursuit of ratings, urging accountability for the harm caused.
In response to Todd’s lawsuit, Bravo and its production team have chosen to remain silent thus far, declining to offer any immediate commentary on the matter. With the legal battle unfolding, the outcome remains uncertain, but Todd’s stance represents a stand against the alleged exploitation of personal narratives for entertainment and a demand for integrity and respect in media portrayals.
As the legal saga unfolds, it serves as a cautionary tale about the impact of reality television on the lives of its participants and the ethical responsibilities of broadcasters in presenting truthful and respectful content. Todd’s pursuit of justice underscores the importance of upholding dignity and authenticity in entertainment narratives, challenging the industry to re-evaluate its standards and practices.
