The star-studded lineup includes Beck, Brandi Carlile, David Letterman, Doja Cat, Elton John, Flea, Iggy Pop, J.I.D, Killer Mike, Maxwell, and Missy Elliott. Joining them are other notable names like Olivia Rodrigo, Questlove, RAYE, Sleepy Brown, Taylor Momsen, Teddy Swims, and Twenty One Pilots.
According to John Sykes, the Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, the induction ceremony serves as a platform for the most influential artists in music to pay tribute to their musical inspirations. This year, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will be honouring iconic musicians such as Bad Company, Chubby Checker, the late Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and the White Stripes. Notably, it is the first time that Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Outkast have been nominated, adding to the significance of their inclusion in this year’s honoree list. Unfortunately, nominees like the Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, and others will have to wait for another year for induction.
Fans eager to delve into the world of rock music history can look forward to the 2025 Inductee Exhibit in Cleveland, Ohio, opening on October 31st. The exhibit will showcase memorabilia such as handwritten lyrics from Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” outfits worn by Meg White and Jack White, a guitar played by the late Chris Cornell, and clothing worn by Andre 3000 in the “Hey Ya” music video.
In addition to the main honorees, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be receiving the Musical Influence Award, while Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Carol Kaye will be honoured with the Musical Excellence Award. Lenny Waronker will be presented with the Ahmet Ertegun Award, acknowledging non-performing industry professionals who have made a significant impact on the creative development of rock & roll music.
