In a recent incident at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, two Delta Air Lines jets collided on the taxiway, resulting in a member of the cabin crew being injured. The collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, with one jet’s wing clipping the nose and cockpit window of the other.
The incident took place at low speed, causing damage to both aircraft. Fortunately, Delta confirmed that no passengers on either plane were hurt during the collision. However, a member of the cabin crew sustained minor injuries and was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation.

According to reports, the two jets involved in the collision were CRJ-900 regional jets operated by regional carrier Endeavor Air. The aircraft, identified as flights 5047 and 5155, had just arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina, and was preparing to depart for Roanoke, Virginia, respectively.
Following the collision, the pilot of flight 5047 reported the incident to ground control, detailing how the wing of one aircraft had impacted the nose and cockpit of the other. Despite the collision, the Port Authority confirmed that the incident did not disrupt other airport operations at LaGuardia.
Delta Air Lines issued a statement expressing regret for the incident and emphasizing their commitment to passenger and crew safety. The airline assured that they would collaborate with relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the collision further.
Passengers onboard both flights were safely disembarked and provided with support, including transportation to the terminal, accommodation, and meals. While the flight from Charlotte had 57 passengers, the flight to Roanoke carried 28 individuals, all of whom escaped unharmed.
The airline is cooperating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to gather more information and address any concerns arising from the collision. As investigations continue, Delta Air Lines aims to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew members.
Incidents like these serve as reminders of the importance of prioritizing safety in aviation operations. Airlines must remain vigilant in adhering to strict safety protocols to prevent such occurrences and uphold the trust and confidence of their passengers.
In conclusion, while the collision between the two Delta jets at LaGuardia Airport resulted in minor injuries, it serves as a critical lesson in the ongoing efforts to maintain utmost safety in air travel. Airlines, regulators, and aviation professionals must work together to uphold the highest standards of safety for all passengers and crew members.
