Renowned chef and Top Chef judge, Tom Colicchio, is set to take the helm as head chef at The Maze, an exclusive non-alcoholic social club located in New York City. The club, scheduled to open its doors on October 15th, has already amassed a waitlist of over 2,600 eager members. The menu at The Maze will showcase seasonal dishes, creative mocktails, and Colicchio’s unique twist on New York City’s iconic burger.

As the demand for non-alcoholic social spaces continues to rise, The Maze aims to cater to this growing trend by providing a welcoming environment for individuals looking to socialize without the presence of alcohol. The brainchild behind The Maze, founder and CEO Justin Gurland, has teamed up with Colicchio to bring this innovative concept to life in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. Gurland, who has been sober for 17 years, emphasises the club’s focus on fostering a sense of community for all who walk through its doors.

The vision for The Maze goes beyond catering to those in recovery, as Gurland notes that individuals who choose not to drink for various reasons, including health concerns or personal preference, are also welcome. The club offers a space where like-minded individuals can connect and form meaningful relationships, filling a gap in the social scene for those who prefer not to drink. The overwhelming response to The Maze is a testament to the desire for such inclusive and intentional spaces in the city.
Membership at The Maze comes at an annual cost of $3,300, which includes sales tax, along with a $1,500 initiation fee. The club will operate six days a week, with Mondays reserved for private events. Colicchio expresses his excitement about the partnership, seeing it as an opportunity to create a unique destination where members can come together around food, culture, and community in a way that sets The Maze apart from traditional social venues.
Food will take centre stage at The Maze, with Colicchio’s team curating a menu that strikes a balance between approachability and innovation. From finger foods to healthy options and indulgent pastas, the menu caters to a variety of tastes, with a special emphasis on the burger programme. The beverage program will feature a range of creative mocktails, non-alcoholic options, and a full coffee bar to cater to diverse preferences.
More than just a place to eat and drink, Gurland underscores the importance of fostering connections and a sense of belonging at The Maze. The club’s layout includes various social spaces where members can engage in activities, work, or simply relax in a welcoming environment. The decor exudes a speakeasy vibe, with terrazzo tabletops and a warm colour palette that adds to the club’s intimate and inviting atmosphere.
As The Maze prepares to open its doors, the buzz surrounding the club speaks to the growing demand for socially conscious and inclusive spaces in the city. By offering a unique experience that prioritises community, culture, and connection over alcohol, The Maze is poised to become a landmark destination for those seeking a different kind of social experience in New York City.
