During an exclusive interview at the premiere of ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ in New York City, Harry Hadden-Paton, the talented actor, shared a fascinating revelation. He disclosed that he was unaware of the name of his character in ‘Downton Abbey’ for several months until a significant moment in the series. The unveiling of his character’s name, Herbert “Bertie” Pelham, occurred during a crucial scene – his wedding to Lady Edith Crawley.

Hadden-Paton expressed his astonishment, saying, “I still have the program from my wedding, Bert and Edith’s wedding, which is kind of special. And it’s how I learned my name. It says on the front of it, The marriage of Herbert and Edith, and I had no idea I was a Herbert. I always thought I was an Albert or something.”

Known for portraying the reserved and aristocratic character of Herbert “Bertie” Pelham, the 7th Marquess of Hexham, Hadden-Paton brought depth and authenticity to his role.
