A Florida mother of five has gone missing for the second time in less than a month, leaving her family deeply concerned. Kayla Bailey, aged 34, was first reported missing on Monday, August 18, only to be found two days later on Wednesday, August 20. However, her family now faces the distressing reality of her disappearance once again, after she went missing on Sunday, September 7, less than a week after being released from the hospital.

According to reports from First Coast News, Kayla Bailey was last seen at her family’s residence on Blackthorn Road in the Wesconnett area. Her grandmother and brother have expressed worry about her well-being, citing recent severe mental health issues she has been experiencing. Lisa Lucas, Kayla’s mother, described her daughter’s actions as unusual, revealing that she has distanced herself from her responsibilities and loved ones.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office initially raised concerns about Kayla’s safety during her first disappearance in August. After being located alive in the woods near her home, she was hospitalised for dehydration and later discharged on September 4. In a separate incident on the same day she was found, Kayla’s husband, Joshua Bailey, was arrested for violating a restraining order; however, this was reportedly unrelated to her disappearance.
With her husband still in custody, Kayla’s brother shared that she declined to accompany him to the grocery store just before vanishing for the second time. Despite no indications of self-harm or intentions towards others before leaving, a missing persons report highlighted her recent emotional struggles. Although she has no diagnosed mental illness, Kayla’s family emphasised that she had been feeling low and unlike herself prior to going missing again.
Following unsuccessful attempts to locate her at home and contact her through hospitals, Kayla remains unaccounted for. Desperate for her safe return, her family expressed hope that she would resurface soon. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for statements regarding the ongoing search efforts, but has not yet responded to inquiries.
At the time of her disappearance, Kayla was last seen wearing a black romper and brown sandals. Any information on her whereabouts should be reported to authorities at 904-630-0500. In the meantime, her family clings to hope and waits anxiously for any news that could lead to Kayla’s safe reunion with her loved ones.
As the community rallies to support the search for Kayla Bailey, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities individuals facing mental health challenges may experience. The importance of mental health awareness and access to support systems cannot be understated, particularly in preventing such distressing events from recurring.
The resilience shown by Kayla’s family and their unwavering determination to bring her back home stands as a testament to the power of love and unity during times of adversity. The significance of coming together as a community to support those in need echoes loudly in the efforts to locate Kayla and ensure her safety and well-being are prioritised.
As the investigation continues, the hope remains that Kayla Bailey will be found safe and sound, reuniting with her family and receiving the necessary care and assistance to navigate through her mental health struggles. The collective prayers and efforts of all involved in the search underscore the unwavering resolve to bring her back home, where she belongs.
