Popular internet personality Mike Holston, also known as ‘The Real Tarzann’, recently came under fire after a video was posted showing him wrestling with a crocodile. The incident took place in Australia and has since sparked backlash from a local animal advocacy group.

In the footage, he can be seen approaching a freshwater crocodile while out on a boat. However, the response from the local advocacy group Community Representation of Crocodiles (CROC) was far from positive. The organisation condemned Holston’s actions, labelling them as both harmful to the animal and illegal under the Nature Conservation Act.
According to CROC, such behaviour sets a dangerous precedent, especially when promoted on popular social media platforms without proper permits or authorisation. The group highlighted the distress caused to the animal and emphasised the potential consequences of monetising such content.
In light of the backlash, the Queensland Government website outlines severe penalties for disturbing crocodiles deliberately, including fines exceeding $18,000 USD. CROC urged the public not to support content that exploits wildlife in this manner and encouraged individuals to report such incidents instead.
Despite the controversy surrounding the video, Holston has yet to publicly address the criticism. PEOPLE reached out for a comment from the influencer but did not receive an immediate response. The incident serves as a reminder of the ethical considerations involved in interacting with wildlife for the sake of social media content.
