In a surprising turn of events, a cat named Peanut managed to travel over 30 miles from his home in Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, to visit a bar in Nottingham, UK – not just once, but twice. The adventurous feline disappeared from his owners, Charley Rawlings and Sam Bharma, only to show up at the Vat & Fiddle taproom in Nottingham. Peanut’s escapade quickly made him a local social media sensation and a beloved guest at the bar.

The staff at the Vat & Fiddle taproom were taken by surprise when Peanut first appeared at their establishment on July 9. Despite his mysterious journey, Peanut seemed to thoroughly enjoy his time at the bar, mingling with patrons and earning the nickname “Screech” for his unique meow. The team at Castle Rock Brewery, connected to the taproom, made efforts to locate Peanut’s owners, eventually discovering their contact information through a microchip at a vet.

Charley Rawlings, Peanut’s owner, revealed that she stumbled upon posts about Peanut’s whereabouts on the Vat and Fiddle’s Facebook page. This led to a heartwarming reunion between Peanut and his owners, with Rawlings expressing gratitude for the bar staff’s care and assistance in finding him. The team at Castle Rock Brewery celebrated the reunion, declaring Peanut as a furry guest who had “completely stolen our hearts.”
Despite their attempts to secure Peanut with a collar, it seems the adventurous cat had other plans. Just a few weeks after being reunited with his family, Peanut managed to sneak out for a second visit to the brewery. His owners took his escapades in stride, jokingly mentioning that they knew where to find him – back at the Vat and Fiddle. Although delighted to have Peanut as a visitor, taproom general manager Danny Storer jokingly noted that Peanut’s parents might not be thrilled with his habit of wandering off.
The mystery of Peanut’s second appearance at the bar left everyone intrigued. While some speculated about how the cat managed to make such a journey twice, Rawlings expressed amazement at Peanut’s adventurous spirit. Despite the distance and the unlikely repetition of his trips, Peanut’s love for the Vat & Fiddle taproom seemed undeniable. The bar staff welcomed him with open arms, showcasing their fondness for the charismatic feline.
Peanut’s story captured the hearts of many, highlighting the strong bond between pets and their owners. His unique escapades and love for a local bar brought smiles to many faces and served as a reminder of the joy animals can bring to our lives. As Peanut’s adventures continue to unfold, one thing remains certain – his playful spirit and mischievous nature have truly left a paw print on the hearts of those he encountered at the Vat & Fiddle taproom.
