A tarot card reader and self-proclaimed “healer” in Utah, Jairo Cesar Vasquez Garzon, is facing serious charges of sexual assault after multiple women reported him to authorities. The 57-year-old suspect has been accused of “multiple forcible sexual abuse charges,” as per the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s recent announcement. Known as “Rafael El Brujo Mayor” (“Rafael The Grand Warlock”), Garzon offered his services through “Misioneros de la Luz” (Missionaries of the Light), according to the statement.
One of the victims, identified as E.H., spoke out about her experience, alleging she came across “Misioneros de la Luz” through a radio advertisement and subsequently made an appointment with Garzon. During their sessions leading up to January 10, 2024, E.H. claimed she was rendered unconscious after Garzon sprayed a liquid on her body. She recounted waking up to him sexually assaulting her and then instructed her to schedule another appointment for further prayers, as reported by the Sacramento Bee.

Another victim, identified as A.I.A., shared a similar story from August 2022, where she reported being sexually assaulted by Garzon during an appointment, despite verbally objecting and trying to resist his advances. Both women alleged that Garzon warned them to keep their meetings confidential, pressuring them not to disclose anything that occurred during their sessions.
The police, following these complaints, have charged Garzon with three counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse and one count of first-degree felony object rape. Information on his plea and legal representation is currently unavailable. Investigators suspect there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone who believes they have been harmed by Garzon to contact the authorities.
The community is urged to report any relevant information to the non-emergency dispatch at (801) 840-4000. Additionally, support is available for those who have experienced sexual abuse by texting “STRENGTH” to the Crisis Text Line at 741-741 to connect with a certified crisis counselor. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking out against abuse and seeking justice for survivors of such traumatic experiences.
Instances like these highlight the significance of ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals seeking spiritual and healing practices. It is crucial for authorities to investigate such allegations thoroughly to protect vulnerable individuals from harm and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. The courage of these women in coming forward sheds light on the importance of raising awareness about sexual assault and providing support for those affected.
As the legal process unfolds, it is essential for the community to stand in solidarity with survivors and advocate for a safe environment where such abuses are not tolerated. The case underscores the need for continued efforts to address and prevent instances of sexual violence and misconduct, promoting a culture of respect, consent, and accountability in all interactions.
The allegations against Garzon serve as a stark reminder of the prevalence of sexual assault and the importance of creating a culture where survivors feel empowered to speak out and seek justice. By amplifying their voices and supporting their journey towards healing and justice, we can work towards a society that values the safety and dignity of all individuals, free from such harmful abuses.
The legal proceedings in this case will continue as authorities work to ensure that justice is served and that all individuals affected by these alleged crimes receive the support and care they deserve. It is imperative to uphold the principles of justice and accountability, standing against all forms of abuse and striving to create a society where everyone can live free from fear and harm.
