A heartwarming rescue story unfolded in Pennsylvania when a stray dog was found with a cheese ball container stuck on her head for several days. The courageous pup has been lovingly named Dallas Cheddar after one of her rescuers and a playful nod to the cheesy snack.
The canine, now affectionately known as Dallas Cheddar, was discovered in the Dillsburg area on Wednesday, Aug. 20, thanks to the efforts of Canine Rescue of Central PA and volunteer drone operator Dallas Fuhrman. According to reports from the rescue centre, Dallas Cheddar was exhausted and distressed when she was finally rescued.
Despite initial sightings of the dog on Monday, it took until Wednesday for rescuers to locate her in a cornfield after a camera from Nighthawk Drone Services spotted her. In a touching video shared by Canine Rescue of Central PA, the team can be seen comforting Dallas as they worked to lead her out of the field, still wearing the container.
The dedicated team at Canine Rescue of Central PA expressed their immense relief in a Facebook post, stating, “After two exhausting and emotional days of searching, we are incredibly relieved to share that Dallas, the dog seen wandering with a plastic jar stuck on her head, is finally safe and receiving medical care.”
Dallas Cheddar’s ordeal captured the attention and hearts of many, prompting an outpouring of support for her recovery. She was immediately taken to the Shores Veterinary Emergency Center, where it was discovered that she was severely dehydrated, infested with ticks, and in distress. The team is providing her with the urgent care she needs while awaiting further assessments of her condition.
To support Dallas Cheddar’s medical expenses, donations are being accepted through Venmo, PayPal, or their linktree. The rescue organisation emphasised that the brave pup is not available for adoption at this time, and updates on her progress will be shared on their official Facebook page.
