Reality TV star Racquel Chevremont, known for her appearances on The Real Housewives of New York City, has recently taken legal action against her ex-fiancée with a whopping $10 million lawsuit. Chevremont alleges a series of grievances against her former partner, including claims of exploitation, nonpayment, and sexual harassment spanning several years of their professional and personal relationship.

The lawsuit, which was filed against Chevremont’s ex-fiancée and business partner Michalene Thomas, outlines a range of accusations including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, quantum meruit, conversion, sexual harassment, and retaliation. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Chevremont, a respected art curator and consultant, asserts that she played a significant role in advancing Thomas’ career over the course of their collaboration from 2012 to 2022.
Chevremont’s legal complaint alleges that she undertook various responsibilities crucial to Thomas’ success, such as acting as a strategic advisor, liaising with galleries and collectors, and negotiating high-value deals on Thomas’ behalf. However, Chevremont claims that Thomas failed to adequately compensate her for her contributions and diverted funds and business opportunities from their shared entity into a separate LLC without authorisation.
Moreover, Chevremont asserts that she was subjected to a toxic work environment and harassment by Thomas, including unwelcome advances and pressure to resume their romantic relationship after their breakup in 2020. The lawsuit further alleges that Chevremont was terminated from her employment by Thomas when she declined to reconcile romantically, a move deemed in violation of New York State and New York City Human Rights Laws.
In addition to seeking $10 million in damages, Chevremont is demanding interest, reimbursement of legal fees, and any other associated costs as part of the lawsuit against Thomas. The legal dispute sheds light on the complexities and challenges that can arise in both professional and personal relationships, particularly in high-profile industries such as the art world.
The partnership between Chevremont and Thomas, which began in 2002 and culminated in their engagement in 2019, was characterised by collaborative projects aimed at promoting diversity and inclusivity within the arts. Their joint venture Deux Femme Noirs, launched in 2018, sought to create a platform for underrepresented groups including women, people of colour, and LGBTQ+ individuals in the art community.
Following the dissolution of their engagement in 2020, Chevremont moved on to a new relationship with her current fiancée Mel, a forensic neuropsychologist. Reflecting on her new engagement and the challenges she has overcome, Chevremont shared details of her romantic proposal, which featured a stunning ring adorned with black, white, and cognac diamonds.
As the legal battle unfolds and the allegations are scrutinised, the lawsuit serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing workplace misconduct and seeking justice for grievances experienced in professional settings. The ongoing dispute highlights the complexities of interpersonal relationships, especially when intertwined with business partnerships and personal dynamics.
