Arch Manning, known as the starting quarterback at The University of Texas and the nephew of famous NFL quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning, recently addressed statements made by his grandfather, Archie Manning concerning his future in the NFL. Arch Manning revealed that his grandfather apologised to him after making remarks suggesting that Arch would leave college for the NFL in two years.

During a press conference on August 19, Arch Manning, age 21, expressed his surprise at his grandfather’s comments to a reporter from Texas Monthly. He explained, “I don’t know where he got that from,” further adding that his grandfather had reached out to him to apologise for the statement. Manning emphasized that he is currently focused on taking his college career one day at a time.
Having spent the past two seasons on the bench behind Quinn Ewers, who is now a rookie with the Miami Dolphins, Arch Manning is now prepared to step into the starting quarterback role at Texas. Despite limited playing time over the last two years, Manning has shown promise with impressive stats, including completing 61 of 90 passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions.
A notable highlight from Manning’s play was a 67-yard touchdown run last season, showcasing his speed, which he humorously credited to his mother according to his father, Cooper Manning. Cooper, the eldest of the Manning brothers, praised his son’s success on the field, jokingly stating that Arch “definitely got his speed from mom.”
Whenever Manning has had the opportunity to take the field at Darrell K Royal Stadium, he has received enthusiastic support from the 100,000-plus crowd. Manning will face a significant challenge on August 30 when Texas plays against defending national champions Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
Despite his family’s football legacy, Arch Manning is committed to carving out his path in the sport, while also heeding the advice of his grandfather, who had a successful NFL career. Manning shared his grandfather’s advice about the physical toll of the game, noting, “Those hits add up,” and acknowledging the importance of preserving his health on the field.
As Manning prepares for his upcoming season as the starting quarterback at Texas, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how he performs in the highly anticipated match against Ohio State. With his family’s support and guidance, Arch Manning continues to navigate the pressures and expectations that come with being part of the Manning football dynasty.
