Michelle Yeoh has recently unveiled some exciting details about the highly anticipated movie ‘Wicked: For Good’. The actress, known for her role as Madame Morrible in the film, shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that fans can look forward to hearing “some new songs” in the upcoming installment. The second part of the Wicked franchise is set to hit theaters on November 21.

In a fun chat with PEOPLE regarding her lead voice role in the English-language adaptation of the Chinese blockbuster ‘Ne Zha 2’, Yeoh hinted at the musical surprise awaiting fans in ‘Wicked: For Good’. The actress, at 63 years old, playfully teased, “I think you’re getting some new songs,” before adding with a laugh, “I didn’t say that.”
Devotees of the original Broadway show’s soundtrack will be pleased to know that Stephen Schwartz, the composer behind the music and lyrics of the stage production, has created the new songs for the film. Yeoh confirmed that the storytelling in the movie necessitated the addition of two new tracks, one for the character Elphaba and the other for Glinda.
During the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Schwartz exclusively told PEOPLE about the new songs, revealing, “I have permission to say there are two new songs in the movie because the storytelling demanded it.”
Despite filming for ‘Wicked’ being completed, Yeoh shared that she remains in touch with her castmates. She recently attended Cynthia Erivo’s performance in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ at the Hollywood Bowl, praising her co-star’s talent and describing her performance as amazing.
In addition to her involvement in ‘Wicked: For Good’, which is scheduled for release on November 21, Yeoh is also busy promoting ‘Ne Zha II’. In this English-language version of the popular Chinese animated film, she voices the character Lady Yin, the mother of Ne Zha.
Yeoh expressed her enthusiasm for bringing ‘Ne Zha II’ to English-speaking audiences, highlighting the film’s retention of traditional Chinese storytelling alongside modern accessibility. The movie, which follows the story of the rebellious demigod Ne Zha, is set to be released in theaters on August 22.
The actress emphasised the significance of cultural exchanges through storytelling, noting the importance of sharing Chinese narratives with a global audience. She commended the film’s ability to bridge generational gaps by combining classic myths with contemporary storytelling techniques.
Michelle Yeoh’s involvement in both ‘Wicked: For Good’ and ‘Ne Zha II’ underscores her versatility as an actress and her commitment to celebrating diverse narratives on screen.
