Police responded to reports of a deceased person on Fort Anthony Road in Jackson Township on Sunday, Aug. 3, at approximately 7:47 p.m. The victim, identified as Brittany Fuhr-Storms, was pregnant at the time of her death. The authorities immediately secured the scene and conducted investigations with the assistance of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

An autopsy confirmed that Fuhr-Storms was pregnant at the time of her death, and sadly, her unborn child did not make it. Subsequent investigations led authorities to Franklin, Brittany’s last known address, where crucial information was obtained. The joint efforts of the Middletown Division of Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were instrumental in progressing the case.

Two suspects, James Rothenbusch and Rick Sheppard, have been arrested in connection with this tragic incident. Rothenbusch allegedly admitted to drug trafficking and suspiciously revealed that Fuhr-Storms had died in his home before her body was disposed of. On the other hand, Sheppard also confessed to knowledge of Brittany’s death and the disposal of her remains.
James Rothenbusch faces multiple charges, including corrupting another with drugs, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse, and drug-related offenses. Rick Sheppard has been charged with gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Both suspects acknowledged their awareness of Brittany’s pregnancy during questioning.
According to reports from a Fox-affiliated station, Fuhr-Storms’ body was allegedly left in a shower for several days before the discovery. The suspect Sheppard attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. He claimed that Fuhr-Storms died from an overdose and remained in the house for about a week before being removed.
In a show of support and love for the victim, the wife of Fuhr-Storms’ twin brother initiated a GoFundMe page to collect funds for a memorial service. The unexpected tragedy has deeply affected the family, as highlighted by the page’s organizer, Joria Isaacs. Efforts to obtain additional information from the authorities and the victim’s family are ongoing.
This heartbreaking case underscores the importance of diligent police work and community support in solving crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. The tragic loss of Brittany Fuhr-Storms and her unborn child has left a profound impact on her loved ones and the local community. May justice be served for the victims as the legal proceedings continue.
