The popular daytime talk show, ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, is set to make a comeback for its seventh season this fall, confirmed by sources at PEOPLE. Season 6 aired its final episodes in June, following which the host, Kelly Clarkson, had embarked on a Las Vegas residency that had to be postponed on August 6 due to her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock’s, ill health.
Despite the tragic loss of her former spouse, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away at the age of 48 on August 7 after battling cancer, Kelly Clarkson is determined to resume her hosting duties on the show. A representative for the family conveyed the news of Blackstock’s demise, stating that he had fought cancer courageously for over three years and had passed away surrounded by his loved ones.
During the summer break from her show, Clarkson had been entertaining audiences with her Las Vegas residency performances until she had to put a halt to the shows on August 6 to support her children through this challenging time. The singer-songwriter, who shares two kids – River and Remington – with Blackstock, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram explaining her decision to postpone her shows to prioritize her family.
Clarkson’s dedication to her family can be seen in her previous actions as well when she took a leave of absence during the last season of her talk show due to Blackstock’s declining health. Various sources revealed that her prolonged absence from the show earlier in the year was mainly to care for Blackstock, who had been diagnosed with cancer post their divorce in 2020.
Despite the upheavals in her personal life, Clarkson has continued to focus on her career, initially with her Las Vegas residency which has now been rescheduled to July and August 2026 due to recent developments. Her other commitments, including her NBC interview and music series, ‘Songs and Stories with Kelly Clarkson’, are set to proceed as planned from August 19 without any disruptions.
In wrapping up the current season and looking ahead to the future, sources close to Clarkson hinted at a potential shift in her career post her current contract obligations. While her talk show provides her with stability and family time, Clarkson is contemplating potential changes in the upcoming year, as she remains dedicated to finding the right balance between her personal life and professional aspirations.
