Dexter’s Jack Alcott Reveals Pre-Scene Ritual with Michael C. Hall

Jack Alcott, known for his role in Dexter, recently shared some behind-the-scenes insights into his working relationship with co-star Michael C. Hall. The duo, who portray father and son in the hit crime drama series, have a unique way of getting into character before filming scenes together.

During the Dexter: Resurrection world premiere in New York City, Alcott disclosed to PEOPLE that while there isn’t usually much preparation needed between him and Hall, there are instances where they engage in a physical activity to boost their energy. Alcott mentioned, “There have definitely been times where one of us or both of us will get down and do some pushups to get amped.”

Despite these occasional moments of physical preparation, Alcott clarified that they typically rely on their ability to connect with each other on set without extensive rehearsals. He explained, “We don’t really ever rehearse or run lines. We just… lock in and go.” This spontaneous approach allows them to keep the performances fresh and genuine.

Alcott, 26, first joined the Dexter franchise in 2021 as Harrison Morgan, the son of Michael C. Hall’s character, Dexter. The new series, Dexter: Resurrection, brings back familiar faces while introducing new cast members like Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage, adding further depth to the storyline set in New York City.

Dexter: Resurrection marks the fourth instalment in the Dexter series, following its original run from 2006 to 2013 and subsequent sequels. The show, based on Jeff Lindsay’s novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, has seen a resurgence in popularity with the revival of Dexter: New Blood and now Dexter: Resurrection.

As the latest episodes of Dexter: Resurrection continue to unfold on Paramount+, fans can expect to see the dynamic between Dexter and his son evolve against the backdrop of a thrilling narrative. The addition of acclaimed actors like Thurman and Dinklage only adds to the anticipation surrounding the series.
