A shocking case has emerged where a suspect in the killing of an ‘American Idol’ executive made a deceptive 911 call, pretending to be the resident of the home, pleading for his life. The incident unfolded in Encino, California, where the bodies of Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca were discovered on July 14, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian. The couple, aged 70, were found dead with gunshot wounds inside their upscale $4.5 million residence.

The District Attorney’s office revealed that the suspect, Raymond Boodarian, allegedly called emergency services from inside the victims’ home on July 10 after fatally shooting them with a firearm he had found on the property. Despite the distress call, law enforcement officials only located the bodies of Kaye and Deluca four days later. The new details of the case were disclosed by Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman during a town hall meeting in Encino, addressing a concerned community troubled by rising incidents of home burglaries.
According to investigators, Boodarian was in the process of burglarizing the couple’s heavily secured home when they unexpectedly returned. A violent confrontation ensued, resulting in Boodarian shooting Kaye and Deluca multiple times in the head. The suspect is believed to have gained access to the property through an unlocked door, despite it being fortified with an eight-foot barrier and security cameras.
The timeline of events on July 10 reveals two separate 911 calls originating from the victims’ residence. The first call, at 4:10 p.m., reported a suspicious individual attempting to break in. Subsequently, a second call came from inside the house at 4:50 p.m., with the caller identifying themselves as a resident and pleading not to be harmed. Law enforcement authorities, including LAPD officers and Air Support Division, responded to the calls but were unable to gain entry as the property was securely locked.
It wasn’t until July 14 that officers discovered the lifeless bodies of Kaye and Deluca following a welfare check prompted by a concerned friend who hadn’t heard from the couple in days. The friend provided access to the residence, leading to the grim discovery. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Boodarian on July 15, who now faces charges of murder and residential burglary.
As the case unfolds, authorities are working to ascertain any potential connections between the suspect and the victims, along with reviewing surveillance footage for crucial evidence. Boodarian, held without bail, is scheduled for a court appearance on August 20 to face charges of multiple murders and burglary along with firearm-related allegations. District Attorney Hochman, addressing the local community, emphasized the need for safety, acknowledging the tragic loss experienced by Kaye and Deluca.
The unresolved aspects of the case highlight the complexities of the criminal investigation, underscoring the importance of swift and effective responses to emergency calls. The devastating impact of the incident reverberates through the neighbourhood, prompting a reevaluation of security measures and law enforcement protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The pursuit of justice for Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca remains a priority as the legal proceedings unfold, shedding light on the need for vigilance and community support in tackling crime and ensuring public safety.
