Pamela Anderson, known for her roles in various films, recently shared insights into her upcoming movie, The Naked Gun remake. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Anderson talked about the advice she received from Priscilla Presley, a former cast member of the original Naked Gun films. This new film features Anderson alongside veteran actor Liam Neeson.
The remake of The Naked Gun sees Anderson stepping into the role of Beth, the love interest of Neeson’s character, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. The original films, released between 1988 and 1994, featured Presley as Jane Spencer, the love interest of Leslie Nielsen’s Frank Drebin. Anderson mentioned that Presley, now 80 years old, reached out to her before filming commenced and advised her to embrace the silliness of the role.
Presley, who was not initially known for comedic acting, received praise for her performances in the original Naked Gun movies. The New York Times lauded her chemistry with Nielsen, describing her as a “winsome Juliet” and a “worldly Jane” to his character. Anderson, speaking at The Naked Gun’s UK premiere, expressed how much she enjoyed working with Neeson on this project, highlighting their compatibility on and off-screen.
Neeson himself has expressed admiration for Anderson’s work ethic and talent. In a previous interview with PEOPLE, he commended Anderson for her dedication and easy-going nature on set. He described her as a joy to work with and predicted her performance in the film would be outstanding. Anderson, while appreciative of the recognition she has received for her recent roles, shared her excitement about the new opportunities she is exploring in her acting career.
Apart from her role in The Naked Gun remake, Anderson is set to star in the stage production of Tennessee Williams’ play, Camino Real, at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. The actress, known for iconic roles in shows like Baywatch and films like Scary Movie, expressed her enthusiasm for portraying diverse characters and evolving in her craft.
As the release date for The Naked Gun approaches, fans eagerly anticipate seeing Anderson’s portrayal of Beth and the dynamic between her and Neeson’s character. The actress hinted at a standout moment in the film that viewers should watch out for, promising an entertaining and engaging performance.
With Anderson’s career on an upward trajectory, her collaboration with Neeson and the legacy of The Naked Gun franchise are poised to captivate audiences once again. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on August 1st, promising a blend of humour, action, and nostalgia for fans of the classic series. Stay tuned for more updates on Anderson’s exciting journey in the world of entertainment.
