Disneyland Celebrates 70 Years of Magic in Grand Style!

Disneyland, the iconic theme park located in Anaheim, California, has reached a monumental milestone as it celebrates its 70th anniversary today. The park’s year-long-plus celebration began on May 16, 2025, and is set to continue through the summer of 2026. Numerous new and limited-time festivities have been planned to commemorate this significant achievement in the park’s history.
The theme for this special occasion is “Celebrate Happy!” and visitors can expect a host of exciting events and experiences throughout the park. From new parades and shows to vibrant decorations and exclusive merchandise, Disneyland is pulling out all the stops to ensure guests have a truly magical time. A media sneak peek was held in May, giving a preview of the enchanting happenings scheduled for the public.
Disneyland’s inaugural opening on July 17, 1955, was a momentous occasion with the presence of none other than Walt Disney himself. Scott Damien Arroyo, the stage show director for Disney Live Entertainment, highlighted the park’s commitment to honouring its past while looking towards the future. This ethos is evident in the various festivities and tributes planned for the 70th anniversary celebrations.
One of the highlights of the anniversary festivities is the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” parade that travels down Main Street near the Main Street Magic Shop, featuring beloved characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Daisy Duck. Additionally, Disney Princesses such as Pocahontas, Snow White, Jasmine, and Merida make appearances alongside dancers showcasing brand new songs created exclusively for the event.
The “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show, located at the It’s A Small World ride, offers a visually stunning experience that pays homage to iconic Disneyland moments. This five-minute projection show, presented three times a night, has been described as a “love letter” to the park’s rich history and magical experiences.
Following the projection show, visitors can witness the mesmerising “Paint the Night” Parade, featuring dazzling electric floats adorned with popular Disney characters like Tinkerbell, Ariel, and characters from Monsters, Inc and Cars. For a breathtaking conclusion to the evening, guests can enjoy the “Wondrous Journeys” Nighttime Spectacular near Sleeping Beauty Castle, a multimedia show combining video projection and spectacular fireworks.
Across from Disneyland, at Disney California Adventure Park, guests can witness the lively “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” Parade, a daytime show that promises to be a joyous experience for visitors of all ages. Additionally, the park features the enchanting “World of Color Happiness!” water show, with special appearances by characters from Inside Out and a pre-show featuring the Muppets.
In addition to the spectacular shows and parades, Disneyland is offering new menu items and nostalgic dishes for guests to enjoy. Visitors can also pick up exclusive merchandise to commemorate the 70th anniversary celebration. The Jonas Brothers’ specially created song, “Celebrate Happy,” is available on streaming services for fans to enjoy as part of the festivities.
