Renowned actress Blake Lively’s deposition has faced a two-week delay following the most recent ruling by a judge in the ongoing legal battle against Justin Baldoni. Originally slated for Thursday, July 17, Lively’s deposition has now been rescheduled for Thursday, July 31, as indicated by court documents examined by PEOPLE and reported on July 17, 2025.
The decision to postpone the deposition was made after a meeting between the legal representatives of both parties on Wednesday, July 16. Despite the rescheduling, a representative for Lively declined to provide a statement to PEOPLE in response to the developments. At the same time, efforts were made to seek comments from Baldoni’s legal team, but no response was received at the time of reporting.

The deposition was set to take place at an undisclosed location following the actress being granted a protective order on July 14. Amidst these legal proceedings, Lively continues to navigate her lawsuit against Texas-based publicist and social media specialist Jed Wallace, which was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds on the same day, Wednesday, July 16.
Lively’s lawsuit, filed in December 2024, accused Wallace of playing a key role in a purported smear campaign orchestrated by Baldoni’s PR team, led by publicists Melissa Nathan and Jen Abel. However, Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled in favour of Wallace’s motion to dismiss without prejudice, allowing the plaintiff the opportunity to refile the same claims at a later stage.
With the dismissal of the lawsuit against Wallace, Lively’s representative conveyed her respect for the court’s decision, emphasizing that it pertained to jurisdictional matters rather than the substance of the allegations against Wallace. The representative also indicated ongoing evaluations into holding Wallace accountable for his involvement in the alleged smear campaign.

In light of the legal complexities, both Lively and Baldoni are preparing for a trial scheduled for March 2026 in New York. The trial is anticipated to provide a platform for both parties to present their testimonies as they continue to navigate the intricate legal terrain surrounding the case.
The intricacies of this legal battle highlight the ongoing challenges faced by individuals navigating high-profile disputes within the public eye. With the deposition now postponed by two weeks, the actors involved are gearing up for a pivotal trial in the coming months, shedding light on the complexities of legal proceedings in the entertainment industry.
As the case unfolds, the nuances of jurisdiction, allegations, and counterclaims continue to underscore the complexities of legal battles in the public eye. The rescheduled deposition date serves as a reminder of the meticulous legal processes involved and the strategic considerations at play for all parties involved in this high-profile legal saga, as they seek a resolution to the multifaceted dispute.
