Steven McBee Jr. of the famous McBee family recently sat down for an exclusive interview with PEOPLE to shed light on the absence of his father, Steven McBee Sr., from the second season of Bravo’s The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys.
The noticeable absence of Steven Sr. from the show raised eyebrows among fans, considering his significant presence in the first season. Known for his role as the family patriarch and his involvement in managing the Missouri farm and various businesses alongside his sons, Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden, Steven Sr.’s whereabouts became a topic of speculation.
In a candid conversation, Steven Jr. opened up about the ongoing FBI investigation surrounding his father. He revealed, “Our dad is currently under investigation, and out of caution for his well-being and the sensitivity of the situation, we have decided to keep him away from the public eye until the matter is resolved.”
The situation took a serious turn in November 2024 when Steven Sr. pleaded guilty to charges of falsifying documents to obtain unauthorised insurance benefits, resulting in a loss of over $4 million to the U.S. government. The legal process is set to conclude with his sentencing scheduled for September 9, 2025, where he could potentially face up to 30 years in federal prison without parole.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Steven Jr. emphasised that family remains a priority for Steven Sr. He shared, “Even amidst the challenges, my father continues to spend quality time with us. We gather at his house for dinners, and our love and support for him have only grown stronger during these trying times.”
Steven Jr. and his brother Jesse gave an update on their father’s well-being, mentioning that he is focusing on family and his grandchildren. Jesse noted, “The presence of grandbabies has brought immense joy to our father. He remains positive and resilient through it all.”
Taking on more responsibilities running the McBee Farm & Cattle Co. following the events of the first season, the McBee brothers have showcased resilience and unity. Steven Jr. expressed pride in their progress, stating, “We have overcome various challenges and are in a better place now. Our bond as brothers and our shared commitment to the family business have never been stronger.”
As fans eagerly anticipate a possible appearance by Steven Sr. later in the season, Steven Jr. hinted at the prospect during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, sparking curiosity among viewers.
The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys airs on Bravo every Monday at 9 p.m. ET, with episodes available on Peacock the next day.
While the absence of Steven Sr. has been felt in the latest season, the McBee family’s resilience and unity remain unwavering as they navigate through difficult circumstances. Through love and support, they stand together, showcasing the true essence of family bonds in the face of adversity.
