In a recent episode of her podcast Just Trish, influencer Trisha Paytas opened up about the creative and unique names she considered for her upcoming third baby. Paytas, who is currently expecting her third child with husband Moses Hacmon, shared her thoughts on naming their new addition, following in the footsteps of their daughters Malibu Barbie and Elvis.

Initially, Paytas reflected on the transition in naming choices after discovering they were expecting a boy. She mentioned considering names like Furby, Sugar Cookie, and Paper Mate for a girl but eventually gravitated towards a different theme for their son. Paytas shared, “We started going this weird route, like movie posters, because we had Barbie and Elvis posters at home. We wanted another iconic movie poster name for our upcoming baby.”

As a mother to Malibu Barbie, 2, and Elvis, 13 months, Paytas delved into the thought process behind their name choices. When they believed they were having a girl, names like ‘Selena’ and ‘Ponyo’ were considered. However, with the revelation of expecting a boy, the couple started pondering names like ‘Aladdin,’ ‘King Tut,’ and ‘Lion King’ to complement their movie poster theme for the new addition.
Considering various themes and influences, Paytas shared, “It’s the last one. It was like a surprise one. Cancer is a water sign. Moses loves water. So then we’re like, okay, we need to think of like water-themed. So then thinking like water-themed movie. It just became like Titanic.” Additionally, she mentioned being fond of the 1995 movie Waterworld and exploring names from that movie as well.
Despite the creative process, Paytas admitted that they are currently stuck on deciding a name for their baby. Reflecting on past encounters, Paytas and Hacmon defended their decision to name their daughter Malibu Barbie. Hacmon recalled facing initial criticisms, but added, “Everywhere we go in real life, people hear her name. They’re like, ‘That’s an amazing name.’ It’s a pretty name. It sounds good.”
The couple emphasised that the backlash surrounding their daughter’s name was unfounded, with Paytas expressing, “It’s like the most popular doll in the world. Malibu is a huge city that everyone loves to go to. So I’m like, everyone loves the name.” Ultimately, the couple highlighted the positive reception they’ve received in real-life interactions regarding their daughter’s name.
As Trisha Paytas navigates the journey of pregnancy and anticipation for their third child, the couple continues to explore and deliberate on the perfect name that will encapsulate the uniqueness and individuality of their growing family.
