In its eighth year, the contest is open to all adopted dogs, regardless of their size, shape, or age. Last year’s winner was Margot, a delightful pit bull and American bulldog mix, who captured hearts with her brown and blue eyes and speckled fur. This year, the search is on for the next canine superstar. To enter the competition, participants are required to submit a photo of their rescue dog along with their heartwarming adoption story.
The contest not only celebrates the cuteness of rescue dogs but also highlights the incredible impact these animals have on their families. Participants are encouraged to share how their adopted dog has changed their life and vice versa. After the submission period closes, PEOPLE’s editorial team will select 10 finalists from the entries received. Readers will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dogs starting from August 14. From the top three dogs chosen by the readers, the grand prize winner will be selected by judges from PEOPLE and the PEDIGREE brand. The winner will receive a photo shoot, a feature in PEOPLE Magazine and on People.com, a year’s supply of dog food from PEDIGREE, and a $1,000 donation to the animal rescue organisation of their choice.
