Katlyn Harp, a 33-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, was reported missing on June 20 by her concerned sister, Harper Lane. Lane notified authorities after Harp failed to answer their daily phone call and her location on the Life360 app had not updated since the previous day.

Pennsylvania State Troopers announced the discovery of Harp’s body on June 29, after an extensive nine-day search. Her remains were found inside a green metal box on a property that was previously owned by her husband, Vincent Harp, who has since been taken into custody.

According to a copy of the criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE, it was Lane who located her sister’s body on a densely forested 40-acre property once belonging to Vincent. The complaint also stated that Lane was the one to initially report Harp missing, setting off a series of events that led to the grim discovery.
Following Lane’s report, the Hemlock Township Police Department and local law enforcement officials launched an investigation into Harp’s disappearance. Vincent, the husband of the victim, was questioned by authorities after inconsistencies were found in his statements regarding the events surrounding his wife’s vanishing.
Troopers obtained surveillance footage showing Vincent at a gas station on the day of his wife’s disappearance, where he purchased gloves. They also discovered that he had sold a utility vehicle just a day after being questioned by investigators. The vehicle tested positive for human blood, raising suspicions further.
On June 29, Lane contacted authorities to inform them that she had found a green metal box near a cliff on the property previously owned by her brother-in-law. Upon opening the box, troopers confirmed the presence of human remains, later identified as Harp through distinctive tattoos on her body.
Vincent now faces charges of criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence in connection with his wife’s death. He was arraigned on these charges on Sunday, denied bail, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 14. As of now, Vincent does not have legal representation for his case.
The tragic and harrowing turn of events has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many questioning the circumstances surrounding Harp’s untimely death. The relentless efforts of Lane in locating her sister’s body have been commended, showcasing the strength and determination of family members in seeking justice for their loved ones.
The investigation into Katlyn Harp’s death continues, as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to her disappearance and subsequent demise. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation in bringing perpetrators to justice and seeking closure for those affected by such tragic incidents.
