Man Evicts Sister Living with Him Rent-Free for Breaking House Rule

A man found himself in a difficult situation after having to ask his sister, who was living with him rent-free, to move out for violating the one house rule he had set. The 26-year-old turned to Reddit for advice after a family disagreement tested his boundaries.
The man’s 22-year-old sister had moved in with him temporarily after graduating from college and their parents had relocated. Initially, the arrangement was going well, as they had always gotten along smoothly. However, things took a turn when the sister invited friends over against his explicit wishes.
Setting a clear boundary from the start, the man had made it known that he was not comfortable with guests in his home. He explained that he does not host people and feels unsafe around unfamiliar faces in his personal space. Despite agreeing to abide by this rule, the sister went against it one weekend.
Upon returning home from a walk, the man was shocked to find three strangers in his living room, with one even using his mug. Feeling disrespected and unsafe in his own home, he made the difficult decision to ask his sister to find another place to stay.

They urged him to support his sister as she tried to establish herself. Despite the family’s disapproval, the man stood by his decision, emphasising that it was about feeling safe and comfortable in his own home.
